Background of the Study

Talent acquisition refers to the process of attracting, identifying, and hiring skilled individuals to meet the organization’s needs. In the competitive banking sector, effective talent acquisition strategies are crucial for business success. United Bank for Africa (UBA) is one of Nigeria's leading banks, with a significant presence in Katsina State. The bank’s ability to attract and retain top talent is central to maintaining its competitive position in a fast-paced financial industry.

In Katsina State, UBA faces challenges related to local market conditions, such as talent shortages and regional economic factors. The bank must develop robust talent acquisition strategies that can overcome these barriers and attract high-performing employees. Effective recruitment practices, employer branding, and partnerships with local institutions are essential for building a skilled workforce capable of meeting the demands of the banking sector. The link between talent acquisition and business success is well-documented, but the specific strategies that contribute to success in the context of UBA’s Katsina operations have not been comprehensively explored.

This study aims to assess UBA's talent acquisition strategies and their impact on the bank’s business success in Katsina State, focusing on recruitment practices, employee engagement, and the alignment of acquired talent with organizational goals.
